Into the Wild: An Engagement Adventure with Sarah & William
There are stories I tell with my camera that stay with me long after the final edit. This is one of them.
On a brisk yet beautiful day, I had the incredible opportunity to work with Sarah Snow and William Cavanaugh Jr., whose love radiates in the most effortless, grounded, and sincere way. Their session wasn’t just about poses and lighting. It was about capturing the essence of who they are, together. And the place we chose to do it? A quiet escape tucked away in Pennsylvania’s natural beauty: Linn Run State Park.
A Setting That Speaks
Linn Run is one of those hidden gems that feels untouched by time. The forest is vast, the air feels cleaner, and there’s a certain stillness that invites you to slow down and breathe. It’s the kind of place where time disappears and all that remains is presence, something Sarah and Will embodied effortlessly.
We hiked a bit, climbed a few uneven paths, and found little nooks where the light kissed the trees just right. They weren’t afraid to explore, to let loose, to laugh, to be still. There’s something incredibly refreshing about working with a couple who isn’t trying to perform for the camera, but rather just letting themselves be. It’s in those in-between moments that the magic happens: the glance before a smile, the instinctive touch, the comfortable silence.
Natural, Real, and Unforgettable
What stood out most about Sarah and William was how natural they were. Their chemistry wasn’t just visible, it was felt.
They made each moment count not because they were told to, but because that’s who they are. Honest. Open. Joyful. There was a lightness to them, a sense of fun that made the session feel less like work and more like I was tagging along on a little adventure with two old friends.
And then, of course, there was the quiet. Those subtle pauses in between bursts of laughter, where you could see in their eyes that this love has depth. It’s in the way Sarah leaned into Will during the colder winds, or how he instinctively wrapped his arm around her before she even asked. These are the moments that make engagement sessions not just photographs, but memories captured in time.
Looking Ahead to “I Do”
As I reflect on our time together, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude. Moments like these are what fuel my passion for storytelling through visual art. Being chosen to document a couple’s journey is something I never take lightly, and knowing I’ll also be capturing their wedding day later this year is something I’m incredibly excited for.
Sarah and William, thank you for trusting My Only Visuals with your love story. From the woods of Linn Run to the aisle you'll walk down, I’m honored to be along for the ride. I cannot wait to see what your big day brings and to preserve every moment of it with the same care and joy that defined your engagement session.
Here’s to the laughter, the stillness, the wild hikes, and all the love that follows.
